Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Cream Cheese Layer
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
Pudding Layer
- 1 (3.4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1¼ cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream, whipped to stiff peaks or additional whipped topping
Toppings
- 1½ cups chopped pecans, toasted
- ½ cup caramel sauce
- ½ cup pecan pie filling or thick pecan syrup (optional, but recommended)
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and brown sugar until well mixed. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish to form an even crust. Place in the refrigerator to chill and set.
- Make the Cream Cheese Layer: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until well incorporated. Gently fold in 1½ cups of whipped topping until fully combined and creamy. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled crust. Return to the refrigerator to chill further.
- Prepare the Pudding Layer: In another bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and whole milk until the mixture thickens, about 2 minutes. Spread the pudding evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Add Whipped Cream Layer: Top the pudding layer with a smooth layer of whipped cream (either the 1 cup of whipped heavy cream or additional whipped topping) to add lightness and creaminess.
- Garnish and Finish: Sprinkle the toasted chopped pecans generously over the whipped cream layer. Drizzle caramel sauce evenly on top, and if using, add spoonfuls of pecan pie filling or thick pecan syrup for extra decadence.
- Chill to Set: Cover and chill the lasagna in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight. This resting time allows all the layers to set and flavors to meld beautifully before serving.
Notes
- Toasting the pecans enhances their flavor and crunch; toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- This dessert is best made ahead to allow the layers to fully set and develop flavor.
- For an extra-decadent version, substitute the graham cracker crust with a pecan shortbread cookie crust for added texture and flavor.
- Use chilled ingredients where possible for easier mixing and a better texture.
